Introducing your instructor

Great to meet you! I’m Telissia. I’m a practicing Speech Pathologist who works closely with school-aged children and the adults who support them, including parents, carers, teachers, and other professionals. My work focuses on building trusting, open relationships where children feel safe to share their worries, wins, and everything in between. I’m here to help you learn practical communication skills, tools, and mindsets that make everyday conversations easier, reduce tension, and build confidence in how you guide the children in your life, all grounded in evidence-based clinical experience.

About this course

If you’ve ever thought, “Why won’t they talk to me anymore?” or “They don't reach-out when something’s wrong?” you’re not alone. Many parents of neurodivergent teens feel shut out just when their child seems to need support the most. Conversations that used to flow now end in silence, one-word answers, or tension. Your teen might retreat to their room, insist they’re “fine,” or shut down completely when you try to check in. Pushing harder often makes things worse, leaving everyone frustrated, hurt, or exhausted. Created by a clinical Speech Pathologist, this program gives you a clear, real-world framework for conversations that reduce pressure and rebuild trust. You’ll learn how to recognise when your teen is ready to talk, set the conditions that make communication feel safe, choose language that invites openness instead of defensiveness, and respond in ways that keep the door open rather than closing it. Across short, practical lessons, you’ll tackle common challenges like shutdowns, avoidance, emotional overwhelm, and conversations that escalate too quickly. You’ll see how small, evidence-based shifts can lead to calmer interactions and more honest sharing over time. The program includes simple scripts, realistic examples, and easy-to-apply tools designed specifically for neurodivergent teens and the families who care about them. Designed for parents and adults who work with of neurodivergent teens, this program helps you move from constant tension and uncertainty to feeling more confident, calm, and connected. You’ll come away knowing what actually helps, so your teen is more likely to come to you voluntarily, including when things are difficult.
